Do you have a second draft of your novel?
Is this the second book in a series?
Has your work been evaluated thoroughly by a critique group?
Then you are ready to have the structure of your writing revised with a line edit.

Line editing is the first stage of copy editing, during which your editor will work to analyze the way your book is written, rather than what you’ve written. This stage includes:

  • Weeding out redundancies
  • Showing versus telling
  • Issues with tense
  • Shifts in point of view and perspective
  • Cliches
  • Sentence variation
  • Dialogue
  • Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Punctuation use
  • Paragraph length
  • Scene transitions
  • Fact-checking
  • Small scale plot and character problems

Cost: .01 cents per word.
Turnaround time: one to two weeks, depending on length of the manuscript.

Changes made in line editing include both comments in margins as well as track changes in Word. At the end of the day, your book is your own, and you have the right to both approve or deny any changes we make.

As with all of our editing services, the Line Edit includes follow-up via email or Google Hangouts for questions, comments, and any concerns. Whether you have a question about the publishing process or want to discuss your ideas to improve your novel, we are here for you every step of the way.

All first time clients will receive a sample edit of the first five pages of their manuscript. This sample allows our clients to make sure the Quick Fox is the right fit for you.

The Quick Fox offers custom payment plans for every service we provide. You can break up the cost of your edit into smaller increments months ahead of time. We understand that publishing is a long term financial commitment, and are happy to work with you to make the cost of putting out your next book a little easier on your budget.
