Every proofread is a two-pass job, the final pass being a consistency check with your custom style sheet. We’ll review every romantasy name and unique place, before its deemed fit to print.

Every proofread covers:

Spelling
Etymology
Emdash versus endash versus hyphen
Text formatting for internal dialogue
Chapter headings
Word formatting

Authors come first.

Proofreading largely consists of track changes in Word, but can include the occasional comment to confirm dialect versus typo, or a note on etymology. Your book is your own, and you have the right to both approve or deny any changes we make.

Cost: .015 cents per word.
Turnaround: one to two weeks depending on length of manuscript.

Editors are available by email for any follow-up questions throughout the process, as well as after. Whether you have a question about the publishing process or want to discuss rules of grammar and punctuation, we are here for you every step of the way.

All first-time clients will receive a complimentary sample edit for the first five pages of your manuscript. This allows our team to insure your book receives the level of editing required at this stage in its journey. We strongly encourage requesting samples from any editor, so you can be sure they’re the right choice for you.

Mikko is the third editor I have worked with and easily the best! They made 7,054 changes to my 123K word novel Veiled in Shadows when I requested a reedit for a second edition. Barring a dozen marked up changes or so I accepted them all. A clear indication of Mikko’s professionalism and thoroughness. They corrected my abysmal punctuation, rewrote sentences and paragraphs to improve flow, and suggested substitutions to improve expression. All of this while preserving my voice and the quirks of my characters. The few changes I rejected were cheats on my part as most of them were where Mikko had suggested a synonym and I selected another. Mikko also has an eye for consistency and historical settings, making suggestions such as I needed to check that Swiss banks would really have used US dollars for exchanges in the 1940s. I have found working with Mikko excellent and will definitely be asking them to contribute to my second and third novels in the near future.
